Rwanda : Itorero- democracy emphasized
Attendees of the Intore’s seminar
45 representatives of Intore from Muhoza, Nkotsi and Muko sectors attended a seminar meant to teach them with notions of implementing democracy, free and fair elections; at the end of March2012.
Gloriose Musekeweya an Electoral commissioner in charge of Musanze and Burera districts said that Itorero is a good channel through which one can broadcast values of development.
Agnes Mukansabimana a resident of Muko Sector who attended the seminar said that the seminar focused on training the attendees on how to change their neighbors’ thinking especially as regards fighting genocide ideologies.
Theogene Rwirahira, Muhoza Sector education officer who also attended the training that trained representatives will teach their neighbors the very values of our government’s ambitions.
Aziza Icyimana a resident of Muhoza Sector told newsofrwanda that “I have gained a lot from this workshop as I have gotten to learn more new values and our government’s targets.â€
Xavier Munyakabaya of Muko Sector said that “Such seminars are important as they bring people back on to discussing their values and cultural norms.
A discussion session was also part of the seminar which gave the seminar’s attendees a chance to point out which cultural values could be used to foster a culture of peace and good governance.
