Burera district mayor Samuel Sembagare is calling upon residents to avoid going to bars during work hours, the call that intends to promote work while fighting against drunkenness.

Samuel Sembagare asked different leaders in Burera district to fight against drunkenness which is the cause of insecurities and if a bar is found open during work hours, the leaders in that area will be answerable.

“if anytime in a certain village or cell people are found drinking in a bar during working hours, the executive secretary of that place will be answerable for not fulfilling what we agreed on” he said.

Drunkenness was found to be one of the causes for insecurities in Burera district during the meeting for the district about security. The district mayor and other leaders who had attended this meeting agreed to take measures to fight drunkenness forever.

“I do not wish for Burera residents to become drunkards and those who want to drink should go to the bars in the evenings after work”.

He said. These measures are already taken into consideration where traders for all local brews will be closing at 8pm in the evenings and big bars will be closing at 8:30pm for people to get enough rest and go to work in the morning.
