Nyarubuye: Genocide Perpetuators awful deeds revealed- KIST&KHI
Following the visit of students from Kigali Health Institute (KHI) and Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to Nyarubuye Memorial site of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis, it has been leant that the district’s case was even more than mayhem.
The students’ visit that took place on 08th April 2012 was also accompanied by the two institutions’ staff.
Dieudonnée Kayitare a worker at this memorial site found in the district of Kirehe described how terrible the Genocide was carried out in Kirehe.
“A notorious genocide perpetuator named Daniel Rwamukama who had been nicknamed Simba (Lion) would kill Tutsis and remove their hearts which he would carry home for roasting and eating,†Said Ferdinand Rwakayigama, a genocide survivor of Nyarubuye.
Evariste Rubanguka, another genocide perpetuator would also pass by Genocide victims’ corpses while spraying red pepper to sniff out half dead victims.
Callixte Mwizerwa coordinator of Genocide survivors associations of KHI and KIST said that Nyarubuye’s Genocide case is quite different from other parts of Rwanda, calling the most inhuman of all memorial sites that he had visited.
“I call upon fellow students to endeavour mourning Genocide victims at the same time building a future over which no Genocide can ever happen again anywhere in the world.†Said the coordinator
