Muhanga: “We feel sorry for our actsâ€- Genocide prisoners
Genocide prisoners doing community service (TIG) in Muhanga sector Muhanga district have confessed that they are guilty of participating in 1994 Tutsi Genocide.
This was revealed on April 9th 2012 during the talk for genocide prisoners concerning the 18th commemoration of the 1994 Tutsi genocide.
Genocide survivors confirm that the teachings they got helped them to more feel ashamed of what they did.
They ask whoever participated in Tutsi genocide to ask for forgiveness and strive to see that genocide remains history.
During the talks, prisoners who are doing community service requested for forgiveness from those that lost their loved ones and say that they are more willing to live in harmony with them after serving their sentences.
Celse GASANA, executive secretary for Muhanga district discloses that commemoration talks are important because they help genocide prisoners doing community service to change their mindset and live like free Rwandans with dignity after serving their sentence.
These teachings will help genocide prisoners to live freely and comfortable in Rwandese society in which are people that lost their relatives to those prisoners, adds Gasana.
Prisoners doing community service in Muhanga total to 86 from Muhanga and Kamonyi districts of which four are women.Â
