    Nyabihu: Thousands of genocide victims’ bodies still missing


    About 4036 corpses of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi victims are already buried in Nyabihu district, but about 3000 bodies are still missing; according to Ibuka in Nyabihu district.

    Anastase Juru, the Ibuka coordinator in Nyabihu District claims that they have already buried about thousands of bodies noting that 2016 of corpses were buried in Kanzenze memorial site in Bigogwe sector and 2020 corpses have been buried in Nyabihu district memorial site that is in Mukamira sector.

    She said that it is still a difficult thing for them to find out where 3000 corpses are and that is why they are calling upon residents who know anything about the whereabouts of these victims to speak out so that they would be buried in respect.

    He also asked residents to support and comfort genocide survivors in different things especially in this period where Rwandans are commemorating the 1994 genocide against Tutsi for the 18th time.
