Gakenke: adult learning programme to better educational policy
Rwandan Ministry of Education has asserted that the census for old people who learn how to read, write and count will help in preparation of the policy governing such schools.
The director of education for all (CapFA) on the national level Jeanine Marengo gave this statement during the training of education personnel in Gakenke and Rulindo districts.
In this one day training that was on the 24th.April.2012, Erneste Rutungisha who works in the department of statistics in the education center asked education personnel in all sectors to fill well the files of the people who attend these schools and take them to education department in the district on time.
This census was conducted between 7th-18thApril.2012 and it was meant to know the number of adults who started to learn to read, write and count in the year 2012, the makeup of these schools, making the permanent program of these adult schools and knowing the level of education  of teachers that teach in them.
Jeanine Marengo said that this census will always be done every year so as to get the statistics of adults who are learning.
