Gakenke : Governor urges community to develop savings culture
The Governor of the Northern Province Aime Bosenibamwe has called upon residents of Nyundo village, Mataba Sector in Gakenke district to cultivate a saving culture in order to develop themselves.
Bosenibamwe who had visited the place to hold talks with the residents told them not to waste money they earn from Icyerekezo-Umurenge (VUP) terracing programme, but to save it with Umurenge SACCO.
The governor also pointed out the issue of security during the talks and reminded them that it is the pillar of development and other things.
« You should be the custodians of your security and every one should be vigilant about the sorroundings while particpaiting in the night patrols, » he said.
They were again urged to always report their misunderstandings to the leaders so they can be solved before they emanate into killings.
According ot the residents of this area, VUP has changed their lives and most of them have plans to save and buy cows.
Over 600 peopel have been employed by Icyerekezo Umurenge VUP in this sector to make bench terrraces, all in a period of one and a half years.Â
