    Nyanza: VUP praised for development support

    Residents of Kibilizi sector in Nyanza district have expressed their gratitude following employment that Vision Umurenge Programme (VUP) has offered to several people in the area.

    According to the Programme, about 500 people who were formerly in a deep poverty have secured various jobs, Egide Bizimana the executive secretary of the sector states in addition to peoples.

    Residents who were in the very poor class were selected from different villages in Kibilizi sector and given work by VUP. Since the beginning of this program in 2008, people who were given work by VUP say that they have managed to develop themselves and got out of the poverty cycles they were in before.

    As they say, every person is given Rwf1000 per day and at the end of the month their salary passes through sector SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative).

     

    Those who started with this program say that it helped them develop themselves in tangible ways. Jean Damascene Sibomana a resident of Mukoni village, Mbuye cell in Kibilizi sector said “after one year while working with VUP, I managed to buy myself a cow and a plot.”

    In VUP, people do all kinds of work like making roads, making terraces, making Antennas and others about infrastructure. Celestin Niyonizeye a group leader at Kibilizi site explains that they work in groups led by capita who guides and directs them so as to give the desired production.

     

    Kibilizi sector is one of the 10 sectors that make Nyanza district which was selected on the National level to have VUP program in a way helping people attain permanent development towards the Rwanda 2020 vision.
