This May 2012, Mayor Yvonne Mutakwasuku asked leaders and workers of Muhanga district to respect their bosses first, if they want to succeed.

“Most employees in Rwanda still under look those who seek their services basing on the social class, their nature and how they conduct themselves,” laments Mutakwasuku.

Mayor Mutakwasuku asserts that this practice should be abolished completely because; leaders are obliged to provide necessary services to the residents regardless of how they are.

“Wherever you are, feel proud of your job. Defend it because it’s your source of survival and for those that depend on you,” Mayor Mutakwasuku advises workers

She told leaders and workers that if they love what they are doing, they will serve people as required.

Labour Day started to be celebrated 19th century in 1889 when workers started fighting for their rights during the industrial period.
