Districts officials demand quick transactions
Districts have revealed that the local government and ministry of finance to quicken the transaction procedure of the money to develop districts, each fiscal year. Delay of the transactions was cited as a hindrance to the districts’ earning the money they are supposed to give back to the country.
They highlighted that money delays when donors delay to send but in such cases, government should quicken the transactions.
This was revealed on Wednesday in a report presented by ministry of local government to theexecution of the 2011-2012 fiscal year budgets. Local government pledged to help.
“Local government will help district elaborate the budgets which are in the funds expected or available, though in this fiscal years is ending while some districts were unable to execute all their plans and this won’t happen anymore,†James Musoni, the minister of local government revealed to districts officials.
The local government budget mostly supervised by districts was 329 billion in the 2011-2012 budgets ending by July this year. 349 billionsRwf is the preliminary budget for local government the next fiscal year.
Districts of Muhanga, Karongi and Gakenke failed to reach 50 percent of the budget yet in two months to come the fiscal year will be over while other districts like Bugesera have already achieved 99 percent.
