Nyaruguru district: Accountants, tax and revenue officers receive training
A two-day capacity-building training kicked off on Thursday in Kibeho sector, bringing together accountants and officers in charge of collecting tax and revenue from Nyaruguru’s 14 sectors.
The training, the first of its kind, aims at strengthening skills and sharing work experience.
“It’s a kind of autoevaluation in order to enhance service deliveryâ€, said CletMunyankindi, Director of Administration Unit in Nyaruguru district, a unit that organised this training.
A number of accountants think this training is of a paramount importance. One such accountant is FidèleNdamuramya from Kivu sector.
“Even though I learnt most of the training content at school, this training is still of a great importance because I share experience with my colleagues from other sectorsâ€, said Ndamuramya. “There is also an auditor who shares some useful insights on most recurrent accountants’ errors and how to avoid themâ€, he added.
Among other topics discussed at the today’s training opening session include how government market bids work and the provisions in the new law governing taxpaying in Rwanda, appeared in the Official Gazette in January 2012.
Under the new law, which replaces the one enacted in 2002, a good number of articles have changed. For instance, a patent on cars has now a uniform cost across the country, Rwf 40, 000 per month – different from the time when, under the former tax law, the cost varied from district to district.
