GISAGARA: Kitchen gardens for new settlers
The minister of internal security Mussa Fazil Harerimana together with officials from the ministry of health, head of finance and development in Gisagara district, Rwanda national police and army commanders have joined hands in community works with the people of Higiro cell and Kabakene cells in Nyanza sector.
They constructed kitchen gardens for the people of Kabakene village who had just settled there after shifting from a place called Nturo mbi (bad home) with grass thatched houses all over the place.
After making kitchen gardens and planting different kinds of vegetables, Minister Harerimana asked local leaders to keep an eye on those kitchen gardens so that whoever fails to take good care of it loses it to the next neighbor and pay a fine.
Residents of Nyanza sector appreciated their leaders’ commitment while participating in Umuganda (community works). They said it is very encouraging to work hand in hand with leaders, and promised to take good care of the kitchen gardens so as not to disappoint them.
