Zambian Member of Parliament appreciates RDF’s work
The commission for National security and international affairs in the parliament of Zambia has thanked the Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) for its role in bringing peace in the country after the 1994 genocide against Tutsis, rebuilding the country and participating in the peace keeping in other countries in the world.
This was said on the 7th.June.2012 during the discussion of this commission with the Minister for Defense Gen James Kabarebe and other RDF members at the ministry of Defense headquarters.
Lt Gen Ronald Shikapwasha who is leading this commission who had also visited Rwanda after the 1994 genocide said that the step Rwanda has taken in rebuilding itself is to be appreciated.
He said that this group is ready to encourage Rwandan refugees that are in Zambia to return home and join other Rwandans to rebuild the county because there is peace.
The Zambian Members of Parliament said that they have learnt a lot from RDF in many different levels for the country’s development like community work.
This group of Zambian parliamentarians is in Rwanda for a whole week and they are planning on having discussions with the government on issues concerning Rwandan refugees in Zambia after they will no longer be called refugees after June 2013.
