Ngororero: NEC proceeds training civil society
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has continued with its training on democracy, good governance and elections in local levels in Ngororero district and on the 12th.June.2012 they trained civil society on the theme “the role of civil society in upholding Democracy and good governance through elections in Rwanda.â€
After sharing ideas about the theme, members of civil society made 2 groups to study on two things one on “the role of civil society before and after elections†and the 2nd one is “the step taken in democracy and governance is to be appreciated and to show the role of civil society to make it stay in Rwandaâ€.
The group memebrs agreed to the fact that before elections, they have to reach out to people they represent and teach them about elections, to encourage them to listen to news about elections and encouraging them to have all documents needed so as to participate in elections.
During elections, they agreed to follow up on elections as observers without taking sides and to follow the instructions of the elections.they will be accepting or declining the results after elections and calling upon people to cooperate with the newly elected leaders.
They also vowed to always cooperate with news agancies to explain to people about all programs concerning elections and play a role in fighting those who want to destroy th country’s reputation through elections.
This training was presented by Beatrice Mukabera the coordinator of NEC in Ngororero district with the help of Charlotte Musabeyezu who is in charge of good governance in Ngororero district. Mukabera reminded members of civil society to encourage people they represent to value the voting list and correct all mistakes.
