Members of the ruling party RPF in Kigembe sector, southern Gisagara district are happy with their development achievements in the year 2011.
In a meeting that brought together district officials, army and police commanders, and other RPF supporters in Gisagara, it was disclosed that a lot has been achieved under the RPF command such as maize plantation on a 180 hectare land, good cassava production and coffee farmers were given bonuses for selling quality coffee to a local processing factory.
The number of court cases has considerably reduced because most of the disputes were dealt with by community mediators known as Abunzi.
There have been great achievements in the decentralization and good governance process. A legal wedding program for illegal couples was also introduced, cows were offered to poor communities under the ‘Gira inka munyarwanda’ program, all grass-thatched roofs were changed into to iron roofs, community health insurances were distributed to almost 100% of residents and the district saw most of its 12 year basic education program classrooms completed.
