    FDLR rebels attack Rwanda

FDLR rebels attack RwandaSix rebels of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) have been killed and two captured in a fire exchange with the Rwandan army after FDLR attacked the Rwandan Army, on November 27 morning.

The rebels reportedly crossed into Rwanda where they allegedly, at about 4am, attacked RDF positions located at Muti in Cyanzarwe Sector and Kabuhanga in Bugeshi sector, both in Rubavu district. The rebels are said have launched that attack from Gasizi region in Eastern DRC near the border with Rwanda.

By this morning, reports indicate that the fighting and exchange of fire has ceased in Cyanzarwe sector, where one of the FDLR rebels was found dead; while in Bugeshi sector the exchange was still visible between the two forces.

Three residents identified as Faustin Kazungu, Claude Uwiringiyimana and Innocent Ngarukiye were from Cyanzarwe sector. All the injured victims were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Residents say that the attack was conducted by about 18 FDLR rebels dressed in Congolese government uniforms, though the Rwandan forces had succeeded in pushing back the rebels during the attack. Residents also revealed that the rebels captured two women in the process, and used them to carry looted luggage.
