City authorities re-open Nyarugenge market modern complex
Kigali city authorities have re-opened the new Nyarugenge market modern complex which was closed down two weeks ago for lack of occupation permit.
The ultra modern building which sits where the old Nyarugenge market used to be had been operating without the license for close two months.
According to Kigali city authorities, the complex which is owned by Kigali Investment Company (KIC) had been operating without the license which is a primary prerequisite for all public buildings. The building is ultra-modern with various activities and services on its eight floors.
According to the Director of Communication in Kigali City Bruno Rangira, the building has been given green light after ensuring that things such as security and safety facilities were in place.
“Our inspecting team has told us that all the requirements are now in place and that the building is safe to operate,†said Rangira when contacted.
Traders say they were affected by the decision to close complex because numerous businesses had already opened shop and these include mostly Banks and Pharmacies.
The building has also services such as car parking, restaurants, salons, administrative offices, banks, shops, a market, and recreational halls.
