    Engineer dies in cassava processing plant

    Engineer Samuel Kanuri, on Saturday died inside Kinazi, a cassava processing plant located in Ruhango,Southern Province of Rwanda.

    According the Director of the factory, Engineer Robert Runazi, the late entered the grinder with another Brazilian expert to clean the device, but Kanuri failed to breathe well. He died of suffocation.

    “Samuel lacked oxygen as soon as he entered the room; he fainted and died a while later. The Brazilian engineer and another factory attendant who tried to help also fainted,” Explained the Director of the factory.

    At the scene, Kanuri was found dead while the other two were in coma.
    “We plan to use an alternative cleaning method that does not require an employee to go inside,” said the Factory Director.

    The patients and deceased were taken to Kabgayi hospital for thorough check up.

     

    The Brazilian engineer and the affected employee were discharged immediately, in better condition, while Kanuri’s body was transferred to King Faisal mortuary for a postmortem.
