Rwanda : Hotels in Rwanda risk losing grades over poor services

Hotels and restaurants in the country have been warned over poor service delivery and told that they risk losing their recently acquired stars and given those corresponding to their services.
This was mentioned during a recent meeting that brought together proprietors of hotels, restaurants and bars.
The chair person of the hotel proprietors association Denis Karera has said that this warning comes as emphasis for the hospitality industry to improve their services that have been faulted in the country for a long time.
According to Karera, the only way these services will be improved is to employ professionals in this industry and continuous training for them to remain relevant.
The department of tourism in RDB has also introduced a regulation which stipulates that hotels bars and restaurants employ professionals in this trade. According to the head of this department Rica Rwigambs, the regulation will be in effect before the end of this year.
The city Mayor Fidel Ndayisaba also emphasized the need to employ professionals and warned owners of these facilities to desist from giving jobs to people just because they are related to them.
Hoteliers were encouraged to work in associations to spur development in their industry.
