Rwanda : Money Expenditures brings tension, residents demand explanation

NyamagabeDistResidents of Gatove cell Tare sector in Nyamagabe district ask the cell leadership to explain how the money they raise for office building is used.

This came to light after the cell leader asked the residents to pay money again for building the administration offices.

Residents agreed with the administration to contribute for the building but up to now the cell leaders’ work in a rented office yet residents have been paying money.

After the budget was made for buying the land, every resident is supposed to pay Rwf500 to Rwf1000 depending on their capacity.

To their surprise, Gatove residents were asked to pay more money when the there was nothing done so far with the first money contributed.

Marcel Ndayisaba, a resident narrates: “Every new leader asks for money yet there is no development”. He wonders where to base more money contribution when the cell offices are continuing to be rented”

Jean Bayiringire, executive secretary of Tare sector stresses that if a resident pays the agreed amount of money, he or she should not pay more money whatsoever.

He assured residents that those who might have paid twice or thrice will be given back their money.
