Nyamasheke: Local leaders asked to spearhead good governance
You should spearhead good governance because a good service from the village level benefits the whole nation, Mrs. Catherine Gatete; vice mayor for social affairs in Nyamasheke district told local leaders.
The vice mayor said this on January 11th 2013 during the meeting with cell and village leaders in Kanjongo sector in Nyamasheke district.
The meeting was aimed to sensitize local leaders on handling their responsibilities towards efficient service delivery and good governance.
Mrs. Gatete asserts that when the village leadership does what is required, the advantages of good governance are felt throughout the whole country.
On the other side, local leaders said they always strive to help village leaders and to engage residents in decision making during the meetings they hold.
Bonaventure Uwimana, in charge of social affairs in Kanjongo sector says that they will follow the Vice mayor’s advice so as to strengthen their areas of weakness.
