    Musanze: Floods claim five

    RwandaDevastating floods recently,claimed five lives in Musanze district, Northern Province of Rwanda, authority has confirmed. The floods misplaced thousands of Musanze residents and destroyed their crops.
    According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs, floods have heavily affected Musanze, Rubavu and Nyabihu districts of the West and Northern provinces of Rwanda.

    “The damage caused by floods is critical, 170,000 houses were washed away,  fifty school buildings collapsed while bridges and roads were affected, over 876 hectares of crops were completely destroyed,” affirmed Gen. Marcel Gatsinzi, Minister of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs.

    In collaboration with humanitarian agencies, the Rwandan government is resettling the displaced families and offering essentials like food, temporary housing and kitchen utensils.

    The Rwandan government has sofa put together more than Rfrw 18 m to resettle the displaced while the Rwandan Red Cross has disclosed over 30,000 tons of food, beddings and medicine to help the flood victims.
