Rulindo district to protect land of genocide victims
Mayor of Rulindo district has reminded those who take the land of people who died in the 1994 genocide against Tutsi that they do not have any right to hold such property.
Justus Kangwagye (Mayer) said that these people buy the land that belonged to the genocide victims in sectors that are neighboring Kigali city on a low cost with the victims’ family members which is not fair.
Justus Kangwagye said, “Ikigabiro is a place that keeps the history of people, when one brings money to a local people they sell even if they had no plan of selling yet that area kept the history of a certain familyâ€
Kangwagye said that people who do such things should stop because it is taking advantage of the poor people who are lonely caused by the genocide which is not fair and can be a genocide ideology.
“I would like to remind anyone who is participating in this that they don’t have rights on this land. People might be selling land thinking it is a fair price only to regret later, we have to protect them when it is still possible.â€
