President Paul Kagame to attend the Summit on Sustainable Development in Africa.
President Paul Kagame is to attend a two-day summit will kickoff May 24th 2012 in Gaborone, Botswana and is organized by the Government of Botswana in partnership with Conservation International.
Other personalities who will participate in that summit are the presidents of Botswana, Liberia and Namibia, the Vice-President of Tanzania, Prime Minister of Mozambique and the world’s leading public and private sectors.
The main objective of the summit is to promote environmental sustainability in Africa through natural capital accounting. The Gaborone Declarations proposed will be adopted at the end of the conference and will draw a roadmap for African sustainable development and poverty reduction and environmental protection.
Rwanda will also be part of the side event organized by UNDP and UNEP, involving the countries participating in the initiative against poverty and environmental protection (IPE) to share experiences and perspectives in building a green economy.
The Summit will be held in Gaborone in the period before the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development scheduled for 20-22 June 2012 in Brazil.
